Kerry Hitchner's Bio
Kerry Hitchner, BS, CESMT
Kerry has been a horse lover her whole life. Growing up in North Carolina, if she wasn't riding, she was daydreaming about riding. She began taking riding lessons when she was eight years old and hasn't looked back. She competed successfully in huntseat equitation, hunter over fences and dressage winning multiple local and state championships. When she moved away to attend college at Western Carolina University, of course, her horse went with her and in the mountains of North Carolina, she discovered competitive trail riding. She and her versatile buckskin mare, Toffee, enjoyed that time very much. She also bought a yearling Thoroughbred, Ringo, while living there. When she later transferred to the University of Georgia to complete her bachelor's degree in Psychology, Toffee and Ringo made that trip with her as well. After completing her degree, she knew the time was right to reach for her dream of working with horses. She searched for ways to enhance performance in hard-working horses and in that search she found equine bodywork. She then enrolled in the Equine Sports Massage Therapy certification course through Equissage, Inc. and knew she found her niche. With hours upon hours of intense study and practice, she became proficient in these healing arts. Through sports massage, swedish massage, acupressure and stretch therapy, she is able to ease horses' pain while enhancing their performance and state of well-being. She and so many others see immediate benefits of this type of therapy in horses' demenors and athletic performance. Let Kerry Hitchner and Gold Standard Equine Bodywork help take your horse's performance to the next level!
