Take your horse's performance to the next level!

Welcome to Gold Standard Equine Bodywork!  In today's intensely competitive equestrian community, heavy training and competition schedules take their toll on the performance horse's muscular system.  Sixty percent of the horse's body weight is made up of muscle and damaged or not, muscles do not appear on radiographs.  Indications of possible muscle damage include head tossing, stumbling, difficulty accepting the bit, decreased stride length and performance, difficulty with leads, refusing jumps, bucking, balking, grumpiness, and the list goes on.  Muscle problems are cumulative in nature and the resulting pain and stiffness can rob your horse of his or her athletic potential.  This is where Gold Standard Equine Bodywork comes in!

Gold Standard Equine Bodywork

Kerry Hitchner earned her certification in Equine Sports Massage Therapy through Equissage, Inc. in Round Hill, VA.  Through this certification course, she became aware of the absolute neccessity of properly caring for the performance horse's muscular system.  Massage therapy has been utilized for over 4,000 years and is quickly becoming mainstream in the performance horse world.  The benefits of massage therapy have stood the test of time and are well-accepted in the modern medical and veterinary communities.  Some of the benefits are as follows: enhanced athletic performance, increased and improved circulation, prevention of muscle damage, increased flexibility of soft tissue, swelling reduction, elimination of toxins and waste products, improved posture and body balance, prevention of atrophy in unused muscles, and loosening and softening of scar tissue.
